Some Favorite Landscape Design Ideas

Once you have the basics of landscape design then inevitably you will want to start moving onto your own projects. This is where it becomes difficult however because, as a beginner it takes a strong character to come up with design ideas and then have the willpower to see them through. In this article I'll be talking about a few different ideas that you can use to kick-start your imagination for your next landscape project.


If you have a small garden then you will have to be a bit more creative with your landscaping to get the most out of it. With a small garden you need to be quite creative to make sure that the garden looks bigger than it actually as. A great way of doing this is to create a series of curves in the garden which appear to someone viewing it as though the garden extends further out into the distance than it actually does.
You should always try and break down the garden into sections so that you can take it piece by piece. If you have a larger garden then this will make it a lot easier as it can become overwhelming when trying to landscape a large area without an initial plan. Once you have the grid you can then place things like flowerbeds and pathways into the design.
You should also think about whether you want your garden to be a modern one or whether you would like to go back to nature. One popular idea is to have an area of the garden that grows completely wild. While this might sound like it is completely against everything that is good about planned landscape design, having a small patch that you allow to grow naturally can add something different to the garden and also provide a safe haven for local wildlife if you have a large garden. This idea isn't to everyone's taste but is something that you might want to think about.
Before you start to think of you ideas for landscape design you should get a clear image in your head of what you want it to be used for. Do you want it to be a place to relax in the evenings, or a bright and colorful garden full of flowers? Once you know what you want from your garden you'll find it much easier to come up with unique designs that will look great.
